TitleLetter from Joseph Henry, Smithsonian Institute, Washington to Edward Sabine
Date10 November 1860
DescriptionHenry refers to their exchanges and hopes Sabine will approve of the preposition made. Henry notes their system of exchange with the ‘civilised world’ is in ‘excellent condition except that part of it which relates to Great Britain’. Henry suggests changing agents but would like to in a way that is least ‘disagreeable’. Informs Sabine that he has received a large number of packages from The Royal Society to be distributed in the [United States of America]. Refers to volumes of transactions and annual reports. Expresses pleasure at the affairs of the [Smithsonian] Institution are in a ‘prosperous condition’.
