TitleLetter from John Frederick William Herschel, Collingwood to Edward Sabine
Date31 July 1848
DescriptionHerschel cannot give his support for an application to the government ‘to take on itself the support of the Kew Observatory’ as he believes the Observatory will be ineffective if it is not the private observatory of the British Association. Therefore, Herschel wishes not to attend a meeting to draw up an application for government support. However, he approves of the committee revising the report.
