Ellery has sent an account of his electrograph to Mr Balfour Stewart, and can report ‘favourably’ on its performance. Discussion on the atmospheric electricity. Ellery comments on Australia’s political circumstances, referring to the assassination attempt of Prince Alfred [Duke of Edinburgh] by a ‘mad man’ or ‘fenian’.
