DescriptionMcClintock learned ‘Admiral Dundas had promised Lieutenant Browne a appointment in the next expedition’ which prompted him to meet with Captain Hamilton who introduced him to his brother and Captain Austin. Captain Austin promised McClintock an appointment, yet undetermined. Reference to iron vessels. McClintock agrees with Mr Barrow to secure an appointment first then pursue the question of promotion. McClintock hopes to secure an appointment of commanding a vessel.
