DescriptionPasley received Professor [William Parkinson] Wilson’s letter and ‘the authority of the Colonial Treasurers to enter into’ a contract [regarding a southern equatorial telescope]. Pasley’s instructions are to enter into a contract with the approval of Sabine and the Council of The Royal Society, with the cost not exceeding £5000. Pasley suggests [Thomas] Grubb should send ‘a short description or specification of the telescope’ to be attached to the contract. Refers to hearing from Professor [Georg Balthasar] Neumayer, and remarks on his satisfaction ‘with the terms of the contract’.
