DescriptionRegarding a contract [for a southern equatorial telescope], Remarks on difficulties in drawing up the ‘terms of a contract’. Pasley remarks on his lack of knowledge of such a telescope as well as its construction. Discusses Grubb’s ‘stipulations’ regarding ‘progress payments’. Refers to the printed letter of Dr Robinson dated 3rd December 1862, and asks Sabine if the Committee consider it a ‘sufficient specification of the instrument’. Pasley discusses his incomprehension of Grubb’s ‘objection to stating the terms of contract which he would propose’.
