DescriptionLiddell thanks Sabine for his kind letter. Informs Sabine he has not heard anything of the Gun Cotton Committee since they left England and assumes Sabine is still working on the problems of the use of guncotton in its ‘combustion’ and ‘action’. Refers to an ‘accident’ relating to an explosion. Liddell refers to ‘HMS Zealous’ as ‘the first English iron clad’ [vessel] ‘to come to the pacific’. References the Magnetic Department. Description of the ‘HMS Zealous’. Refers to the ‘Carriage Committee’.
