TitleLetter from Hermann Kindt, Yarm, Yorkshire to Edward Sabine
Date14 September 1863
DescriptionRefers to Sabine’s interest in Edward [Eduard] Vogel. Kindt informs Sabine, ‘Vogel’s sister [Elise Vogel Polko] has recently published a short sketch of her lost brother’s life’ with some of his letters. Polko has written to Kindt to ascertain if her book will interest English readers in an English translation. Kindt therefore asks Sabine’s opinion regarding this matter and if the Vogel’s letters are ‘worth’ being translated. Remarks the most interesting letters are from Africa and he has already translated two addressed to his mother [see MS/257/3/6]. Describes the contents of the Vogel’s letters he translated and why they are interesting.
