DescriptionRegarding Professor [Oswald] Heer’s claims to a royal medal. Lyell praises and describes Heer’s work in the advancement of science. Refers to Heer’s work on the arctic regions, his dedication, and the head of the Botanical Department at the British Museum’s testimonial arguing the value of Heer’s papers. Lyell refers to some ‘unavoidable’ errors by Heer as well as other ‘palaeontological labourers’, and their corrections.
