DescriptionScherzer informs Sabine that the Austrian government intends to send an expedition to China and Japan to ‘conclude a treaty of commerce with these nations’. Scherzer will be a part of this expedition conducting scientific objectives, and Admiral Wüllerstorf would lie to provide the two vessels with aneroid barometers and would like Sabine to purchase the equipment at the expense of the [Austrian] government.
