DescriptionStewart received a copy of a letter from the Warden of the Standards to Edward Sabine, requesting that Sabine ask the Kew Committee if they would ‘undertake the superintendence of the construction of an air thermometer’. Stewart informs Gassiot of a previous air thermometer constructed at the Kew Observatory. Refers to its experiments. Discussion regarding the results and values. Stewart would be unable to take on this investigation without a ‘specially qualified assistant’.
