Description[The beginning of this letter is missing].

Sabine refers to receiving a letter from Mr [Francis] Galton on 7th February, and consequently wrote to Mr [Adolph Theodor] Kupffer regarding the resolution passed at Bath [regarding a committee appointed for the purpose of communicating to the Russian Government the opinion of the British Association regarding the establishment of magnetical observations on the Kew system at the Observatory of Tiflis]. Refers to Professor Moritz communication with Galton and ‘a desire to be guided by his advice’. Sabine had arranged with Mr Kupffer to be in London in order to discuss meteorological and magnetic observations and Professor Moritz wishes. Sabine learnt of Mr Kupffer’s death and is not aware of a successor being appointed.
