DescriptionVerdon informs Sabine that a ‘gentleman’ knowledgeable in making observations with the equatorial telescope should be appointed from England, and requests him to appoint the services selected by the committee of the council of The Royal Society. Verdon emphasises the importance for the observer to have the opportunity to learn the use of a large reflecting telescope and becoming with familiar with the telescope [possibly referring to the great Melbourne telescope] during is construction. Information regarding the salary and appointment of the position.
