TitleLetter from George Verdon, Melbourne to Edward Sabine
Date27 July 1867
DescriptionUpdates Sabine regarding the Melbourne [Observatory]. The magnetographs are being erected and should be in working order soon. Reference to the self-registering electrometer. Drawings are particulars needed for the large reflector. An office at the observatory is being prepared for Mr [Adolphus Albert] Le Sueur. Verdon has secured an addition to the grounds of the observatory in order to allow for appropriate distance between the reflector and the magnetic instruments. Mr [Robert Lewis John] Ellery has ordered a barograph and a thermograph similar to those used at Kew. Verdon remarks on returning to England for a longer stay and therefore expresses his desire to be a member of the Athenaeum club.
