TitleLetter from Edward Walker, Segrave Lodge, Cheltenham to [Edward Sabine]
Date2 November 1864
DescriptionWalker thanks Sabine for [Charles James Buchanan] Riddell’s instructions and the papers read at the Royal Society. Walker asks Sabine’s permission to keep the instructions for magnetic surveys. Walker expresses his interest in terrestrial magnetism yet considers himself a novice in the practical manipulation of the instruments, and would like to visit the Kew Observatory if the opportunity should arise. Walker thanks Sabine for information regarding the ‘motion of the African node of the line of no inclination’. Discusses reasons for obtaining the ‘node’ in the pacific.
