DescriptionWalker informs Sabine of his arrival in England, and that Sabine’s letter to the Secretary of State has been forwarded to the Governor of India, with the request that the operations be completed as proposed by [Walker]. Captain [James Palladio] Basevi cannot reach England before the end of the year. Reference to Basevi’s pendulum observations on the Suez Canal, Walker asks Sabine ‘interest’ Mr [Ferdinand] de Lesseps to aid Basevi regarding his work.
