DescriptionRegarding the pendulums returned by Mr [George Biddell] Airy from Greenwich which were received by Dr [?]. Welsh discusses a few discrepancies regarding the returned instruments and intends to write to Airy about this. Dr [?] has been appointed as Professor of Natural Science at the Calcutta University with a salary of £840. Discussion regarding Mr [Kennedy's?] visit to the Kew Observatory, and remarks on his experience in magnetical observations. Reference to differential declination observations and temperature coefficient. Welsh acknowledges the bifilar as being the ‘most troublesome instrument’. Discussion regarding the Board of Trade instruments expense. The Board of Works ‘people’ came to make examinations regarding gas.
