DescriptionWelsh expects Mr [Frederick] Chambers must have completed the observations with [Angelo] Secchi’s dip circle. Chambers has also been working with a unifilar for Dr [Pegado]. Includes Sabine’s estimate of Mr Secchi’s account, in which Welsh suggests alterations and discusses the price of the instruments. Welsh sent the constants, forms, and specimen observations along with the unifilar to Commander [Cialdini], however, Secchi informed Chambers he did not receive the constants. Discussion regarding payment for Dr [Miller?] Fox’s dip circle, and Welsh’s intentions to describe the additional process introduced into Mr Fox’s dip circle.

Welsh is arranging a plan of the new magnetic house. Reference to colonial observatories. Professor Kingston has sent his inertia rings to be measured. Welsh expresses his hopes to hear Sabine is ‘making progress’ at St Leonards and discusses the weather. Welsh updates regarding his condition and health.
