TitleNotes on Falaba by Alexander Gordon Laing
Datend
DescriptionLaing details the military history of Falaba, capital of the Soolima and the succession of Kings since 1778. Habits of the present King, Assana Yena, and Laing's conversations with him, are discussed. Some of the conversations concern trade, but Laing also talks the King out of waging war on Limba. Laing describes the Kunganna, or warmaster, Yarradee Fina, in mostly unfavorouable terms. He also discusses the Soolimas in general, particularly their disposition towards war, trading habits, modes of punishment, and dress and adornment.
