DescriptionLibrary lending book, volume 1. The manuscript records the following information in columns: 'when delivered' (i.e. date borrowed), 'title of book'', 'to whom delivered' (i.e. name of borrower, often as a signature written in the borrrower's hand), and 'when returned'. The latter may be a date of return, or a simple notation of 'Ret'd', occasionally with initials of the Librarian or other members of staff.

The borrowers are Fellows of the Royal Society; the general public did not have access to the library during this period unless given special permission. Borrowers listed include: Charles Babbage, Charles Darwin, Sir John Lubbock, Charles Wheatstone, Charles Lyell, Peter Mark Roget, Sir Humphry Davy, John Frederick William Herschel, Baden Powell, Henry Fox-Talbot, John George Children.

This volume contains no entries for the period July 1830 - Nov 1837, loans for this period are logged in MS/401/2
