The borrowers of the books were Fellows of the Royal Society, since the general public did not have access to the library during this period unless given special permission. Borrowers listed include: Francis Galton, Sir John Lubbock, Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker, Edward Whymper, Lord Kelvin, Lister, Norman Lockyer.
Also includes some loose inserts at the front of the volume, as follows: Regulations governing the use of the library of the Royal Society, 1898 A three page list of books not to circulate without special permission, dated 1890. List includes: books printed prior to 1500, 16th Century copies of 'Editio Princeps' and reference works, amongst others. A list of books and loan information dated 17 September 1901 and seperated into titles under the headings 1899, 1900 and 1901. |
