TitleCopy letter, James Hudson, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society, to Revd. John Hailstone
Date12 May 1832
DescriptionReplying to Hailstone's enquiry, the temperature corrections applied to the Society's barometer are from a table by Professor [Heinrich Christian] Schumacher adapted for the English barometer. The Society's barometer does not have a continuous brass scale, so only the first part of the table is used. Mr Hussey has recently published this in a different form, in the Philosophical Magazine. Hudson explains how observations in the printed tables of the Royal Society Meteorological Register are corrected.
