DescriptionMakes no apology for troubling Francis Beaufort with the instruction to have one of the enclosed letters forwarded to Captain [Richard] Collinson, and the other to Captian [Thomas] Graves. Also requests Captain Miles be asked to look up Mancet's bottle, and have it put in order of necessary by Jones. Informs that Dr Forchammer has been asked by Sabine to investigate the density of sea water. Gives details of the findings, stating that it is not clear from the results of others whether they used actual sea water or water diluted with salt. [Date is labeled 7 January 149]
