When asked for a letter from the Treasury to recognise Bate's claim, Bate answered that a letter could not be provided. Informs that Mr Spooner implies the Treasury has not recognised his claim. Asks for the Committee to take these into consideration before Weld writes to Mr Grove of their opinion. [See MS/426/538, MS/426/523, MS/426/559 and MS/426/562]
