Description | Regards the proposal to establish and maintain for a time, an International circumpolar chain of stations for meteorological and magnetic observations. Informs that the proposal was forwarded to the Meteorological Council, who drew up a memorandum. The Royal Society agree with the memorandum but cite the large cost of maintaining an Arctic station in an isolated location. Also states it will improve knowledge of the magnetic disturbances to the aurora. Concludes that the Royal Society will assist if the Government approves of the project. |
