TitleCutting of report inclosed to a letter from [George Gabriel] Stokes, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Colonel [John] Donnelly
Date26 June 1885
DescriptionThe Committee recommends the Council to adopt resolutions 1-6 of the International Meridian Conference. Recommends the adoption of resolution 6; the change of time reckoning, for that year if it does not inconvenience any Mariners. Mentions the change will be made to the Nautical Almanacs for all Nations of 1890. As for resolution 7, for astronomical reason, and because it goes against the practice of all nations, disagrees with the decimal division of the day, although has no objection to the study of angular space. [See MS/427/437 for the letter the cutting was inclosed to]
