TitleProposal for a furnace from Ernest Kilburn Scott, consulting engineer and electro metallurgist at University College London
Date29 June 1915
DescriptionAddresses his furnace experiments at the Northampton Institute and a proposal 'for establishing the manufacture of nitrates from the atmosphere by the direct electrical method'. Notes that he has the support of F Foster at the British Aluminum Company, and W H H Norris, who is about to go to the States to establish a nitrate factory and explosives works. Notes that P Thompson witnessed the furnace a week ago. Describes some difficulties in the manufacture. Would be grateful 'if the Royal Society could see its way to use its powerful influence in forwarding the object I have in view'.
