TitleCopy of a Letter from James Wallace, Public Works Department, to [Donald Mackenzie] Smeaton, Director of Agriculture, British Burma
Date17 March 1884
DescriptionIdentifies lack of reports from Burma.

Despite his proximity to Krakatoa, in Rangoon, the sun related phenomena did not appear to be observed until a much later date, unlike in more Western latitudes. Identifies that even though the previous two months there has been distinct after glows, they do not match observations of other affected areas. Refers to his own sun-related observations made in January and describes in detail the colours of the sun. Hopes someone in Burma has recorded their observations so a comparison can be made with other affected areas.Theorises about the flow, velocity, and spread of volcanic dust.
