Observational reports, between them spanning July-October 1883, including passing though large fieldds of pumice stone, bamboo, trees, dead cattle, and human cadavers. Captain Visman's report outlines daily observations from 23-27 August 1883, including passing through fine brown hued dust; heavy smoke clouds arising from the crater at NW of the the island; Verlaten Island and Krakatoa covered in gray dust and leafless; loud noises and blows, shaking the vessel, akin to a battle; darkening skies; barometer readings, and wind directions, included.
