TitleMemo from the Royal Commission on Wheat Supplies
Date11 March 1918
DescriptionGives figures on the rate of consumption of cereals for bread -- notes that there has been a tendency to lessened consumption since December, surprisingly as other foods such as meat were in short supply -- suggests that the higher milling standard producing a dark, less attractive bread, and fines for those hoarding flour, helped reduce consumption -- gives estimates of the present stock of cereals for bread and predicts future stock consumption -- includes the Argentinian wheat purchases. Notes that the Commission is alarmed by the Food Controller's decisions and notes the success of their previous suggestions, including the higher milling standard which provided some 2,500,000 qrs of wheat.
