DescriptionSays that the proposal to save foodstuffs by using horse chestnuts in place of grains in munition production came from the Royal Society's Food (War) Committee -- that the secretary writes the chestnuts are a waste crop -- that the matter was discussed between the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Ministry -- that horse chestnuts have so far failed as a cattle food, though further investigations are underway.
