Title | Letter from Sir Clements Markham, 21 Eccleston Square, to A B [Alfred Bray] Kempe |
Creator | Markham; Sir; Clements Robert (1830-1916) |
Date | 9 November 1899 |
Description | States that before advising the Council of the Royal Geographical Society to agree to remove paragraph 5 (about payments) in the Instructions to the Executive Committee, he 'should like to know what understanding would be in force'. There are payments due for heavy printing bills, and soon the fees will be due for their Naval Architect and Engineeer, salary and expenses for an overseer for the building of the ship, and payment of instalments in the course of building. Believes that If these payments cannot be met by the Treasurer it would be necessary to extend the powers in paragarph 5, rather than omit them |
