TitleLetter from Edward Cocks to A B [Alfred Bray] Kempe
Date21 August 1901
DescriptionWritten from 43 Charing Cross S.W.
Is off on Saturday when his direction until 18 September will be Cornwall. Will be back in London for a few days, then the same address. He encloses a letter received from Longhurst. Quite agrees with all Kempe has done re Bernacchi and thinks also the best thing to do is to give him say £30 for his expenses at Melbourne , advise Scott of this and ask him to see Bernacchi's accounts for it. He will sign the cheque for freight of the goods sent on to Melbourne, £150 seems a good deal. He supposes if Bernacchi goes off tomorrow to Potsdam before he can hear from Kempe he had better give Bernacchi £20 and it will be allright. The Government Grant of £5000 has come and he has paid in £5000 from the Geographical so they are full of money again. He has written to Longhurst to call in on Friday so would Kempe let him know of anything he ought to do before then.
