TitleLetter from Edward Cocks to A B [Alfred Bray] Kempe
Date21 August 1901
DescriptionWritten from 43 Charing Cross, S.W.
Since writing to Kempe Longhurst turned up and he has signed cheques for 2 or 3 small amounts for men he understands were employed in the docks also 2 for Bernacchi one of £20 and one of £50 the first for Potsdam the latter for Melbourne. He has refused to sign a chequ for £125 for freight (payable to Else) as he thought such a cheque should be drawn in favour of the steam ship Co and for the exact amount of the freight and he hopes that Kempe will think he was right. Longhurst has gone to make enquiries of the P & O and if he comes back Cocks will put the result of the enquiry in this letter. He hopes this will be allright but they are all small sums except Bernacchi and the freight.
