TitleTyped extracts of speech by and letter from Sir Clements Markham
Datend
DescriptionTwo extracts, undated;
1. Extract from Speech of Sir Clements Markham to Royal Geographical Society referred to in Professor Gregory's letter of 24 September 1901 in which he makes reference to pendulum observations being taken with 'an instrument supplied in this country'.

2. Extract from letter of Sir Clements Markham to the Treasurer of the Royal Society
Markham remembers about Gregory's proposal to get pendulums at Melbourne; but he lost sight of the busines when he handed over everything to Scott in December 1900. He remebers, however, that Gregory had told him the plan of getting them at Melbourne was given up. When he asked Scott about it last May, Scott told him that it was decided to take out the pendulum at Kew.
