Description | Written from 43 Charing Cross, S.W Having a real time with the National Antarctic Expedition. not only has Longhurst got Scarlet Fever as Kempe knows but Hodge the man I saw has had a fit so he and Markham were left stranded yesterday. As Kempe said there were a great many pressing applications for payment of accounts so he has taken the bull by the horns and drawn cheques to the amount of £3,800 in payment of undoubted claims so he hopes Kempe will pass an indemnifying resulution or sign the cheques on his return. Thought it unwise to send so many cheques to Kempe for signature. All bills about which there were doubts were rejectd. Chalmers was not there so did what he thought best. He will be away from 5-17 October and will then return to London for good . Hopes Kempe is having a good time in Venice. |
