DescriptionKempe provides a detailed account of his meeting with Sir Clements Markham, where they discussed the 'Directions' for the National Antarctic Expedition and the issues surrounding the alterations, as well as the need for the Joint Committee and both Society Councils to approve them. Also discussed [John Walter] Gregory's deputy and the articles under which the 'Discovery' would sail. Kempe notes that at the end of the meeting they 'parted very amicably' and that Markham 'had no doubt said thing he would rather have left unsaid'.
