Has received a long reply from Scott which he has sent to Foster, with the draft of their letter. His ex-assistant Gray will meet Kempe. He wrote yesterday to Murray telling him that he considerd the [illegible] to be 10 guineas but he could do no more without the consent of the officers of the Royal Society. But this morning he received a telegram to say that Shackleton is pipeless on account of his teeth. He is making more enquiries.
