TitleCopy letter from Robert Harrison to A B Kempe
Date20 May 1903
DescriptionAmendments in pencil
States long-talked of despatches from Commander Scott were brought to the Royal Society this afternoon by Longhurst, in the original, accompanied by the enclosed printed copy. The despatches arrived on Monday, and it seems strange that Sir Clements Markhm should not at once have communicated them to us while the letter to the Treasury was still in draft. At Dr Larmor's suggestion Harrison is writing for enough copies of the proof to furnish the officers of the Society with, and he thinks that a copy should be shown to Admiral Wharton, at any rate, at once, and to such other members of their Committee as take an interest in the Report. The copy is marked "strictly private and confidential". He hopes Sir Clements Markham will observe the confidential nature of it himself, but he expects to see a good deal of it in the Times tomorrow.
