Minutes of previous meeting read and signed

Item 5. Professor Micharl Foster reported that application had been made to the Government Grant Committee and the British Association for Grants recommended by the Committee at the previous meeting

Item 6. Sir Clements Markham reported that over £14,000 had already been promised by subscription toweards the espenses of an Expedition, and made a further communication to the Committee with reagard to a larger donation which it was hoped might be forthcoming

Resolved to report to the Council;
The Antarctic Committee, understanding that there is a prospect of substantial assistance being offered from a private source to the project for an Antarctic Expedition, beg leave to recommend that, in the event of that offer being confirmed, the Presidents of the Royal Society and of the Royal Geographical Society be requested to write to the Prime Minister asking him to receive a small deputation to explain the present prospects of the Committee, and to ascertain whether H M Government may not be able to afford at least some assistance to the undertaking
