Item 12. Sir Clements Markham read a letter from Baron Richthofen relating to the steps being taken by the German Government for the preparation of an Antarctic Expedition.

Item 13. Draft of a letter asking for aid from Her Majesty's Government to an Antarctic Expedtition was further considered and amended. It was Resolved - That it be referred to Sir Clements Markham and Professor M Foster Secrretary of the Royal Society to finally revise the letter, which should then be forwarded to Her Majesty's Governmetn in such manner as they may find to be most proper.

It was further agreed - That a Memorandum on the Scientific and Practical Results of an Antarctic Expedtition be referred to Professor Rucker and Sir John Murray for settlement, and that it be forwarded as an enclosure in the letter to Her Majesty's Govenment.

The letter and Memorandum as finally settled and despatched are appended

Item 14. Moved by Sir Clements Markham and Resolved - That, subject to the consent of the Council of the Royal Geographical Society, the Fund for the National Antarctic Expedition shall be kept on deposit at the bank of Messrs Cocks, Biddulph & Co and that the Treasurers of the Royal Society and the Royal Geographical Society be the Treasurers of the Fund, with power to draw cheques on the authority of the two Presidents until such time as the Executive Committee be appointed.

Item 15. Sir Clements Markham reported steps he had taken with a view to obtaining from the Chief Constructor of the Navy drawings of a sutable ship for the Expedition, and it was Agreed - That a report on the vessel to be employed be presented to the Committee at as early a date as practicable.
