Item 16. The Chairman reported that the Committee had been reconstituted on an enlarged basis by the Royal and Royal Geographical Societies with twelve representatives. Item 17. Resolved - That Sir Clements Markham be appointed Honorary Secretary to the Committee, and that a clerk be engaged to assist in the work of the Committee and the general business of the Expedition at a remuneration not exceeding two guineas a week.

Item 18. Agreed - That the Treasurers of the Fund, as nominated at a previous meeting of the Committee, have power to draw cheques of the Fund to the extent of £50 in sums not exceeding £10, and that larger amounts be paid only by resolution of this Committee

Item 19. Sir Michael Foster offered on behalf of the Royal Society, the use of a room in the Society's apartments for the general business of the Committee, which was accepted

Item 20. Resolved - That August, 1901, be provisionally fixed as the date of the despatch of the Expedition

Item 21. Agreed - That the question of the selection of a Commander of the Expedition be deferred until after September

Item 22. Resolved - That the following Sub-Committees be apointed to consider the requirements of the Expedition and to report to this Committee, the Presidents of the Royal and Royal Geographical Societies to be ex officio members of all Sub-Committees, and the Sub-Committees to have power to add to their numbers, each Sub-Committee forming a quorum with one third of its number.

Item 23. Resolved - That it be an instruction to the Science Sub-Committees to consider and make a prliminary report not later than the end of September as to the investigations which they consider it desirable that the Expedition should conduct in their respective sciences, and as to the best means of carrying them out.
