Description | Letter of 9 July 1751 from Lord Macclesfield to John Canton hoping for an opportunity to meet him before Maclesfield leaves on Friday next. Will call upon Canton at his house on Thursday next, without having any ladies with him, so there will be no occasion for Canton's having the trouble of making any electrical experiments
Letter of 12 September 1751 from E Sparke to Canton reminding him of giving particular attention to young Adamson's performance of the writing he has been lift to do by Mr Heaton. What would please Heaton would be a plain hand, void of all superfluous touches for ornament, one constant form of capital letters, no unnecessary or absurd abbreviations, and to have the writing well disposed of, and due distances between the paragraphs. The latter is seldom enough minded by boys. |
