TitleLetter from J T [James Thomson] Bottomley, 13 University Gardens, Glasgow, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorBottomley; James Thomson (1845-1926); Irish physicist
Date6 January 1909 [1910]
DescriptionLady Kelvin would be quite prepared to have Cambridge University Press take over the existing three volumes of Collected Papers and to complete the series. Bottomley thinks this would be a better arrangement too. Kelvin's plan to keep everything in his hands was a good one, but taking everything into account, including Lady Kelvin's health, a new arrangement would be preferable. He does not think there was any pecuniary loss in the first three volumes, but the Cambridge Press knew all about it. He cannot think there was a definite proposal from the Press and at the point where the correspondence came to an end, he was expecting to hear more from them. If the matter can be reopened, he will do what he can, and he asks if he should write to them.
