| Description | Larmor's letter reached him after some wanderings. He only has his notebook data and his Philosophical Transactions paper on ionic series with him. He has taken the data for potassium chloride to a concentration of 1/5th normal,. The correction for viscosity is negligible and the correction for hydration is the smallest. He has plotted values on the accompanying diagram [not present] with the result. He informs Larmor where to find conductivities of mixtures of potassum chloride and sodium chloride and what these show. He has some very pure potassium chloride and acetic acid in his laboratory and he could make a series of conductivity observations for Larmor on his return. He is glad that Larmor is tackling the equilibrium equations. He has spent fruitless hours at this, but they require a better mathematician. He sends a few observations for Larmor's consideration. If Larmor could help to frame an equilibrium equation bringing in water as one of the reacting agents, it would be a great advance, citing a paper by Morgan and Kanolt. He is busy on another paper featuring a discovery he has made that 'in diluting a solution the change of ionisation is approximately proportional to the contraction which takes place'. He does not want to publish it at present, but mentions in in relation to his point about water.
