TitleLetter from H A [Henry Andrews] Bumstead, 45 Edgehill Road, New Haven, Connecticut, to Sir Joseph [Larmor]
CreatorBumstead; Henry Andrews (1870-1920); American physicist
Date16 June 1910
DescriptionBumstead was pleased to receive volume 4 of Lord Kelvin's papers, which he is sure is due to Larnor's kindness. He recently read Sylvanus Thomson's biography with an increased admiration for Kelvin's genius and character. They are just finishing the year's work at Yale and he is tired out. The new laboratory is begun, and when the walls are up the problems of interior fittings and equipment will trouble him, but for now there is peace. They will not be so short-handed next year, with Boltwood returned and Wellisch coming at Christmas time. He asks Larmor about the prospects of his coming to America in summer, perhaps at the Solar Research meeting. Bumstead gives his on travel plans for July and August, but they would be back by September if Larmor could come.
