TitleLetter from H A [Henry Andrews] Bumstead, American Embassy, Office of the Scientific Attaché, 30 Grosvenor Gardens, London, to Sir Joseph [Larmor]
CreatorBumstead; Henry Andrews (1870-1920); American physicist
Date22 April 1918
DescriptionHe feels sure that the Proceedings of the National Academy would welcome an article by Larmor, even if longer than usual. If further expansion would make it clearer, then the Physical Review, where [Leigh] Page expects to publish his full paper, would be delighted to have it. Bumstead was pleased that Larmor speaks so highly of Page, who is earnest, able and industrious. His fault is a certain kind of intolerance which is inseparable from an interest in relativity. Bumstead asks if Larmor would like to dine at the American Officers' Club, or perhaps have lunch if he cannot get away from the House of Commons. He hopes to attend the Royal Society's meeting on Thursday afternoon, at Schuster's invitation, although he may have to leave that evening for Portland, to view some experiments.
