Title | Letter from George J [James] Burch, 20 Museum Road, Oxford, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Burch; George James (1852-1914); British physicist |
Date | [May 1902] |
Description | He thanks Larmor for the suggestions, thinking that he must have left out a line on page 3 in copying his notes. He has given only a brief description of the electrometer, because the model in now supeseded by his latest improvements, about which he is preparing an account. He has touched only briefly on capacity since that too will be the subject of subsequent work. He thanks Larmor for the copy of his paper. He thinks that Lippmann must have based his estimate on insufficient data. He notes the capacity of his previous and present electrometer. He does not think that capacity can be expressed as a linear function of the surface. He proposes to show in a subsequent paper a measurement of charge by the displacement of a mercury column. He sends some of his own papers to Larmor.
