TitleLetter from H E [Henry Edward] Armstrong, 55 Granville Park, Lewisham, London, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorArmstrong; Henry Edward (1848-1937); British chemist and educationalist
Date19 February 1908
DescriptionSends an enclosure which may interest Larmor, and a discussion might not be inappropriate for the Bakerian. He has two papers nearly ready, one a comparison of acids which will make it possible to put the relationships in a simple light, the other on the influence of salts of the rotatory power of cane sugar. On Royal Society matters, he thinks that the chemical candidates left over from last year are weak, and none of them will be first-raters. Thorpe is the only strong man. Some effort should be made to bring in 'borderland' men such as Barlow, Hall and Gowland. The first two of these are really good. Larmor knows Barlow's work and ought to advocate for him, while Hall is publishing a new aspect of agricultural chemistry. With a few other remarks.
