DescriptionLarrmor's letter is full of interest, parts of which had not escaped Berkeley, although he is not a mathematician. He gives a description of membranes, and experiments to force pure water through a membrane, the amount proportional to the pressure used. He attempted to utilise this for the calculation of a correction for the 'solution leak', but it was no good. With regard to the time for reading this paper, he is inexperienced and will probably not explain things properly, but he will describe the method for getting a determination, perhaps simple enough with the aid of a blackboard.
